TIM HUTCHINSON (GROUP CEO OF DGB)

Tim has been with (DGB) Pty Ltd for 30 years and led the formation of DGB when Douglas Green of Paarl owned by Kersaf/Rennies merged with Union Wine owned by Mr Graham Beck. DGB (PTY) LTD DGB (Pty) Ltd is a South African based Producer and Distributor of Wines and Spirits.

The company owns leading wine brands such as Boschendal, Douglas Green, Bellingham, Brampton, Franschhoek Cellars, Beachhouse, Oude Kaap & Tall Horse. In the spirits category the company owns leading African brands such as Zappa Sambuca, PO10C, Tang Sour Apple, Butlers Liqueurs, Strawberry Lips, Antonella Tiramisu cream, African Secret Marula Cream. In addition to the above, in South Africa, DGB (Pty) Ltd sells and distributes leading international brands such as Jagermeister, Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Stella Artois, Corona, Disaronno amaretto, San Pellegrino and Aqua Panna.

THE HISTORY OF DGB AND TIM HUTCHINSON’S INVOLVEMENT

Tim was appointed CEO of the merged companies when DGB was formed in 1990 and has led the company through an enormous growth phase which included development of the international wine business to over 70 countries, supported by 10 DGB offices around the World, the development of a major production, winery, bulk storage & bottling facility in Wellington and the acquisition of Boschendal in 2005, Franschhoek Cellars in 2009 and Brampton in 2012. Tim led a MBO of DGB with Brait in 2001, and remains a shareholder in DGB with the majority shareholder now being Brait.

TIM HUTCHINSON – THE PERSON

Tim has been married to Lesley since his early twenties and they have three children, namely Lee, Lindsay and Graham all who still live in Johannesburg. He is a keen sportsman and played professional cricket in England after leaving school and today plays some golf and tries to keep fit when he is not travelling. He keeps a home in Johannesburg and a home in Paarl in the Cape, is a keen Sharks Fan and still has a holiday home in his beloved KwaZulu-Natal. One of his keen passions outside of his family & DGB is to spend time in the bush with family and friends.
