Iconic South African wine brand Bellingham, situated in Franschhoek, has yet again shown its world-class pedigree and the universal appeal of its wines with plaudits from the newly released 2016 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) results and Tim Atkin's South Africa Special Report.
For many South Africans, winning a car is nothing short of a pipe dream. However for Gaye Tegg this dream has just come true. DGB’s leading brand Strawberry Lips today handed over the keys to the winner of it’s national Win a Fiat 500 Cabriolet Competition.
Semillon, the white grape known for its alluring fruit profile and complexity of flavour, is not quite as familiar with wine consumers in South Africa as in its native France. Locally it is rather better known as a blending grape with especially Sauvignon Blanc, but a single varietal rendition from Franschhoek Cellar has left the judges spellbound at this year's Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. The Franschhoek Vineyards Semillon 2014 was crowned as the best example of the cultivar at this year's competition, receiving the Trophy for Best Semillon at the awards ceremony earlier this week.
Bellingham Bernard Series Organic Syrah is one of the Top 10 in the world!
The 10th edition of the Syrah du Monde® international wine competition, organised by Forum Œnologie, has just come to an end. Over the course of three days, international experts tasted 374 Syrah/Shiraz wines from all over the world. Diversity and quality are the watchwords for the 2016 winners, which comes as no surprise for a grape variety currently enjoying rapid growth.
2016 harvest particularly challenging,
and yet ...
A dry winter followed by a hot, dry summer: The winter of May to August 2015 in the Cape Winelands was cold enough to ensure proper vine dormancy but it was one of the driest in decades. A hot growing season followed that included one of the hottest Januaries that anybody can remember. There are exceptions, but mostly the dry winter and summer and the unusually hot months impacted on the yieldsfrom the 2016 harvest, which were significantly less than from the year before.
Bellingham Wines will be a feature on DSTV KYKnet channel 144 for the programme Sediment.
Be sure to watch tomorrow, April the 13th at 17:30
Sediment is in their Second season and I do believe this is DGB’s first wine to be featured on the programme. Below is a brief description about the programme.
